Mr & Mrs Hobbs Case Study

“I worked with the +SEGMENTO range which is based on the idea of having distinct workstations for the wet area and cooking/prep zones along with a tall bank of appliances and storage units. The range combines wide vertical segments with sleek worktops, giving an almost floating effect.“

“As the kitchen door is the main access into the house, I wanted to set the stage for an unmistakable entrance, using minimal design to create maximum impact, The area between the two islands is the working zone. Moving from the sink to prep then to the hob is very easy. Guests tend to be naturally steered away from this area towards the seating feature or will stand to the opposite sides of the island units allowing interaction while food is being prepared.’” Natalie Fry, Senior Designer

“For the door I used a high gloss in Spanish Red – the clients loved the contrast of the two finishes, using a very industrial surface with a gloss lacquer seems to emphasise both materials,” Natalie explains. The Hobbs are delighted with the overall design. “We love the feature pendant lighting over the glass breakfast bar as well as the soft lighting within the floating shelves. This area is truly effective now that we have the darker evenings ahead of us. We also love how well the two workstations work; the layout is so practical and social. Though it had been high on our wishlist, we were still pleasantly surprised at how much storage we ended up with. We’re also amazed at how easy the stainless steel worktops are to keep clean by using simple E-cloths and water and we love the mechanical drawers which are touchcontrol – so easy to use! We love it all really!” Mrs Hobbs.
